Virtual edge device

Get started with Industrial Edge device functionality without the need for a dedicated physical hardware device. Run it on standard virtualization platforms (VMware ESXi/vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V).

Connectors

Gather data from devices via S7 for Siemens equipment or a drive connector for others.

Industrial Edge Hub and Management

Use your Industrial Edge Hub to access and manage applications as well as connect devices, enable data processing and deploy apps. Your Industrial Edge Management license enables your edge device to connect to the hub.

Data management tools

Flow Creator is a tool to define data flows with a graphical user interface. Define which data needs to be processed where, and then copy the flow to multiple data collecting devices.

Databus is an intermediate layer on the edge device to collect data and make it accessible to applications.

Applications

Analytics: Use the Predictive Service Analyzer - Converter app to detect signs of initial damage in a drivetrain before it affects the entire production, based on real-time data from SINAMICS frequency converters. Use the information to make targeted decisions to prevent machine failures and optimize machine operation.

Solution: Siemens service experts implemented a digital condition monitoring solution for drives: they installed the Predictive Service Analyzer application and artificial intelligence. Tetra Pak now has transparency over drive conditions and analysis of data parameters (voltage, temperature, DC busbar fluctuations and many more).
